What Does a Hoist Inspection Checklist Cover? (Three Tiers)

1. Daily Operator Checks (Frequent Inspection)

2. Monthly Detailed Inspection (Periodic)

EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 — What to Do Now

If you supply hoists to the European market, the new Machinery Regulation replaces the current Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC on January 20, 2027. The biggest change: certain categories of hoists will need third-party conformity assessment (EU-type examination by a notified body), not just the manufacturer's internal certification that CE rules were followed.

What that means practically: if your hoist supplier issues a CE declaration of conformity today without a notified body review, that may not be sufficient for placing on the EU market starting 2027. Check with your hoist manufacturer whether their product has already been assessed under the new regulation's requirements. The re-certification process takes 6-12 months, so hoists ordered in mid-2026 that are delivered in 2027 could face delays at customs if the paperwork does not match the new rules.

For hoists already installed in EU facilities: existing equipment can continue operating under the current rules. The new regulation applies to hoists first placed on the market after January 2027, not to equipment already in service.
